Mater Dei, Louisiana Tech Score Eco-marathon Victories

Mater Dei High School in Evansville, Ind., swept Shell Eco-marathon in Houston over the weekend, scoring victories in four categories and achieving a best run of 2,188.6 miles per gallon with its gas-powered vehicle, dubbed 9th Gen.

Mater Dei also achieved the highest mileage in the UrbanConcept class with their soon-to-be-retired gas-powered vehicle George, which achieved 611 mpg. The school’s other victories were in the battery electric and alternative gas prototype categories.

Louisiana Tech University achieved a Diesel Fuel first prize in the UrbanConcept class with a run of 488.7 miles per gallon, and also walked away with the Design and Best Team Spirit awards.
